Meet Tippi Benjamine Okanti Degré. She’s the daughter of French wildlife photographers and filmmakers Sylvie Robert and Alain Degré
Named after Tippi Hedren, the actress who starred in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, this little girl has grown up in the African wilderness and calls the animals of the wild her closest friends.
Cady-née-Tippi was born in Namibia in 1990, and traveled with her parents through countries like Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa. While on the road she often enjoyed drawing her favourite animals and knew them all by their first names. Africa is in her blood as this young animal lover claims her favorite band to be Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
The funny thing is if you have seen the movie Mean Girls, you will remember the main character (also named Cady) spending her earlier years in the African wild – we just wanted to point that out.
“She was so at ease with animals. She would talk to them with her eyes and her heart,” said Tippi’s mom, Sylvie, who said the locals nicknamed her little one “The Girl Who Talked to Animals.”
Tippi managed to managed to make the world’s most feared and admired animals like lions, tigers and cheetahs her best friends. The animals seemed to be at ease with her and were very protective over her. She also hung out with elephants and zebras in her spare time.
Check out these awesome photos and please share them with your kids too!
