Many of our readers will no doubt be familiar with the scrumptious sushi chain in the UK called YO! Sushi. The founders of that group have also been busy creating an exciting and hip hotel product called YOTEL, and we got a chance to check out their new property on the island city of Singapore.
The concept embraces the concept of small-space luxury and was originally built with airports in mind. The first YOTEL was opened in 2007 at London Gatwick, closely followed by one at Heathrow airport. Today YOTEL operates in airports and cities including London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Paris Charles De Gaulle and Schiphol. Additional locations include a hotel near Times Square in New York City, another in Seaport, South Boston and Orchard Road, Singapore.
More recently, the hotel chain announced new city centre hotels in San Francisco, London Clerkenwell, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Amsterdam, Miami, Dubai, Geneva, Park City and two hotels in Singapore Changi Airport and Istanbul New Airport.
The Singapore property in conveniently located in the bustling shopping district of Orchard Road and minutes away from Singapore’s most popular attractions.
Technology is at the heart of this brand.
The check-in lobby is referred to as Mission Control and this acts as the nucleus of the property. The helpful crew are on hand 24/7 to help with whatever needs to get done.
Meet Yoshi & Yolanda
In line with their mandate of integrating the best technology into the product, YOTEL Singapore comes complete with Yoshi & Yolanda – their hotel’s friendly guest service robots. The robots will deliver everything from an extra towel or a bottle of water and seamlessly interface with the elevators and come right to your front door. Oh, they can even sing you a song if you wish. Say hello to their future of customer service!
