After seven amazing years, the Singapore Grand Prix – the biggest sporting event in town – enters year eight. This year’s lineup of racing coupled with a star-studded music roster for the concert series means one thing, the organizers have focused on “Innovation”. After-all, when you have been running an event for as long as this one, you must constantly innovate to keep the excitement going for those attending.
This same logic applies for the famous after-parties which amalgamates high-rollers, celebrities, super models and race drivers in what can only be described as a soiree reserved for the privileged.
That said, the scene has been stale with very little innovation over the years. That is, until The Box and Boudoir Noire came to town. Without any doubt, there is a buzz about this super premium after race party that has the in-crowd’s attention. If you are lucky enough to get invited to buy a table, or make it past the front door – we are told you will be in for one hell of a surprise.
If you have been to The Box in New York City – you will know what I mean.
I sat down with the glamorous party-planner Jeannette Tan from Imaginoire to discuss the hottest ticket in town at this year’s F1.
Can you tell us a little about Boudoir Noire and how you came up with the idea?
Boudoir Noire is the flagship edition of the cabaret inspired “Boudoir” series of bold, edgy and seductively glamorous event experiences first created by my luxe lifestyle events company, Imaginoire Pte. Ltd. last year during Singapore F1 Grand Prix weekend. Inspired by Parisian cabaret chic, the world of Boudoir is a celebration of glamour, sophistication and immersive entertainment at its best.
Featuring captivating performances and creative talents that are masterfully curated, boldly entertaining and alluringly risqué, Boudoir Noire at the iconic Capitol Theatre promises to be the ultimate den of decadence, designed to seduce the senses with an exhilarating F1 Grand Prix post-race party experience like no other in Singapore.
The Box also known as “theater of varieties” is a world renowned showcase with installations at such locales like the Monaco Grand Prix, Art Basel Miami and the MTV Music Awards – how do you think it’s going to be accepted in Singapore?
Singapore’s nightlife scene has evolved over the years and become a lot more progressive especially in terms of arts, leisure and entertainment attractions on offer. Additionally, the demand for highly innovative and creative, internationally established concepts is now at an all-time high, and I believe Singapore is definitely ready for edgier and more provocative event concepts that push creative boundaries.
With its uniquely innovative and immersive performances, global appeal and exclusive following, it is no wonder that The Box is one of the all-time favorite party destinations for celebrities, royalty and A-listers alike. Hence I truly believe Boudoir Noire presenting The Box’s debut in Singapore this September will be coming in at just the right time to meet these burgeoning needs. Our ultimate goal is to ensure our esteemed guests at Boudoir Noire will enjoy an unforgettable post-race party experience at this year’s Grand Prix weekend.
What type of provocative performances can we expect to see? Do tell.
We can’t reveal much about what we will be showing at Boudoir Noire so guests will need to attend the party to truly experience The Box and its signature brand of edgy, provocative performances for themselves. We are flying in over 20 performers from New York and London so you can definitely expect to see a variety of exceptional creative talents including featured burlesque acts by our highlight performer Sukki Singapora.
We hear that the folks at Proof & Company will be dishing up a delicious (and creative) cocktail menu – can we get a sneak peek?
Indeed we will have special signature cocktails being served at Boudoir Noire by an all-star cast of 8 international bartenders assembled by award winning drinks collective Proof & Company, the fabulous team behind Singapore’s famed 28 HongKong Street (World’s 10th Best Bar in 2013 and 2014).
We heard that this is strictly an invitation only affair – why so exclusive
Since we are proudly presenting the exclusive Singapore and Asian Grand Prix debut of The Box at Boudoir Noire, our aim is to a glamorous, high-profile yet bold and edgy F1 trackside after party on the post-nightrace circuit in Singapore this year. Hence all table reservations at Boudoir Noire are exclusively by invitation only so that we can ensure there is proper crowd curation for our event. However a very limited release of individual general admission passes are currently available for purchase through our website www.boudoirnoire.com. Note that Boudoir Noire offers all guests free flow luxury drinks (including Taittinger champagne, Beluga vodka and other premium spirits) therefore ensuring a seamlessly indulgent partying experience throughout the night.
How will this type of event compete with the other premium post-race parties in town during the Singapore F1 season?
We don’t really wish to see ourselves as competing with any other events over the Singapore F1 weekend. We are simply the newest Grand Prix trackside after party to launch this September and we believe we offer a very different proposition to all other events happening over that weekend, especially since Boudoir Noire will be presenting the exclusive Singapore debut pop-up experience of The Box from New York and also guest star performances by Sukki Singapora, the World’s first professional burlesque artist originally from Singapore.
We are also very excited and privileged to be the first F1 anchor highlight after party to be hosted at the beautifully restored and iconic Capitol Theatre. For those who are wondering, Capitol Theatre will be transformed into the ultimate pop-up party venue for Boudoir Noire with its state-of-the-art sound and lighting technology and specially designed retractable theatre seats which can be rolled flat into the floor to create the perfect event space.
What type of music can we expect to hear?
Boudoir Noire will feature house/eclectic style music by world-class international DJs who will be flying in from New York, London and Jakarta including:
• NYC’s DJ Coleman, one of the fashion world’s most in-demand musical stylists and DJs who has played at top NYC hotspots Le Bain, The Standard, The Boom Boom Room and at the hottest designer fashion events including Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent; and whose musical stylings as The Box’s longest standing DJ residency are definitive of The Box’s signature eclectic sound;
• Shovell, the world’s premier percussionist aka “the Drum Warrior” from Defected Records who has played alongside top international DJs and at top clubs from Ibiza to London; and best known for being a key band member of chart-topping, multi platinum album selling UK house band M People (over 11 million records sold worldwide);
• and other special guest DJs (to be announced) from the UK’s top independent house label, Defected Records
